ศึกษาทิศทางการพาดผ่านปลาย transverse processes ของเส้นประสาทสันหลังส่วนอกเส้นสุดท้าย (T13) และเส้นประสาทสันหลังส่วนเอว 3 เส้นแรก (L1-L3) ของกระบือปลัก 20 ตัว ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ทั้งแขนงบนและแขนงล่างของเส้นประสาทเหล่านี้พาดไปข้างหลังเฉียงออกด้านข้าง อยู่ข้างบนและข้างใต้กล้ามเนื้อ intertransversarius ตามลำดับ ไปพาดผ่านปลายของ lumbar transverse processes (TL1-TL5) โดย T13 ของกระบือ 20 ตัว จะพาดผ่านขอบหน้าปลาย TL1 ส่วน L1 พาดผ่านขอบหลัง ปลาย TL2 (8 ตัวและเฉพาะข้างขวาอีกสองตัว) และผ่านขอบหน้า ปลาย TL3 (6 ตัว) L1 ของกระบือที่เหลือ ผันแปรไปผ่านขอบหน้า ปลาย TL2 และขอบหลัง ปลาย TL3 ส่วน L2 พาดผ่านขอบหน้า ปลาย TL4 (10 ตัวและเฉพาะข้างขวาอีกหนึ่งตัว), พาดผ่านขอบหลัง ปลาย TL4 (7 ตัว) และที่เหลือพาดผ่านขอบหลัง ปลาย TL3 ส่วน L3 ส่วนใหญ่พาดไปข้างหลังเฉียงออกด้านข้าง ลงใต้กล้ามเนื้อสันใน และบางตัว (4 ตัวและเฉพาะข้างซ้ายอีกหนึ่งตัว) มีแขนงบนกล้ามเนื้อสันในไปผ่านขอบหลัง ปลาย TL5 การศึกษาครั้งนี้ ให้ข้อแนะนำถึงตำแหน่งการฉีดยาชาเส้นประสาทสันหลังส่วนเอวที่ไปยังบริเวณผนังท้องของกระบือปลัก ควรต้องฉีดทั้งที่ขอบหน้าและขอบหลังของปลาย lumbar transverse process อันที่ 2-5 ส่วนเส้นประสาทสันหลังส่วนอกเส้นสุดท้าย ให้ฉีดที่ขอบหน้าของปลาย lumbar transverse process อันที่ 1

Last thoracic (T13) and the first three lumbar spinal nerves (L1-L3) of the 20 Swamp buffaloes specimens were dissected and observed the relation of their crossing to the tip of lumbar transverse processes (TL). Their dorsal and ventral branches coursed obliquely caudolaterally on the dorsal and ventral surface of the intertransverse muscles, respectively. The T13 crossed the anterior border of TL1 (20 specimens). Most of L1 (8 specimens and two of the right side) crossed the posterior border of TL2 and crossed the anterior border of TL3. The L2 crossed the anterior (10 specimens and one of the right side) and the posterior (7 specimens) border of the TL4, and a few specimens variably crossed the posterior border of TL3. Most of L3 were running caudolaterally under psoas muscles. The L3 of some specimens (4 specimens and one of the left side) have a branch on the dorsal surface of the psoas muscles and crossed the posterior border of TL5. This study might be recommended that the effective paravertebral anesthesia injection in Swamp buffaloes will be applied to the both anterior and posterior border of the second, third, fourth and fifth lumbar transverse processes tip for the first three lumbar spinal nerves block and injection at anterior border of the first lumbar transverse process tip for the last thoracic spinal nerve block.
