Dermatophytosis in buffaloes was charactarized by patchy alopecic areas of the skin. The majority of the lesions were roughly circular, scaly and slightly crusty. The colour of the scales and crusts was often greyish white and occasionally grayish yellow or brown. Ear lesions always exhibited light-black or blackish-grey scales and crusts. The number of lesions in individual buffaloes ranged from one to 47 with an average of 5.98+-7.20 SD. The size of the lesions varied from 1 to 7 cm in diameter with an average of 3.64+-1.45 SD. The area of skin infected ranged from 1 to 664.25 sq. Cm with an average of 90.95+-105.21 SD. The most common sites of the lesions were the neck and shoulder. One of the two sites were affected most frequently. In cattle the disease was more severe. The lesions were mainly crustry and moderately pruritic and occasionally produced heavily crusted, alopecic, thickened and corrugated skin of the neck. The lesions in farm workers were circular, red, and primarily scaly. They had raised borders and were intensely pruritic.
